Álvaro’s research agenda is developed at the intersection of psychoanalysis, sociology of mental health and anthropology of psychiatry, addressing the socio-cultural dimensions of individual and collective suffering and their translations into the “psi” languages.
Member of the following research centres and projects: Millennium Institute for Research on Depression and Personality (MIDAP), Millennium Nucleus to Improve the Mental Health of Adolescents and Youth (Imhay), Millennium Nucleus in Social Development (DESOC), and Platform for Social Research on Mental Health in Latin America (PLASMA).
